Ah-Lan Dance will present an exciting dance and arts performance, including…
- Chinese traditional dances
- Ballet and modern dance, presented by Ah-Lan Dance’s students and teachers
- A dance medley introducing the history of China’s uniquely beautiful ladies’ garment, the qipao, featuring members of The American-Chinese Cultural and Art Association performing with Ah-Lan Dance
- Live vocal performances by two of China’s top ranked singers, onstage with dancers!
This Gala show will conclude with a newly-designed rendition of the famous Chinese legend of Mulan, with original choreography by Ah-Lan.
Ah-Lan Dance will offer an exciting retelling of the ancient story of the devoted daughter Mulan, who dressed as a man and joined the army to help her aging father escape forced conscription in a time of national emergency.
The dance will evoke the remarkable story of Mulan’s victories on the battlefield, her triumphant return home and her touching devotion to her family in a colorful and enegetic spectacle that all ages can enjoy!
